Dear friends
Thank you very much for all of your comforting messages, tributes and prayers. These words certainly give comfort and strength to me and my family. I am thankful that I am surrounded by many people who support me and my family. Though

Dear Naomi,
ReplyDeleteI as a former colleague of Kos at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University received the sad news of Kos's passing away. I remember him as a person of great enthusiasm and and sunny personality. This drew students into his sphere and strove them to excel, as did Kos.
Kos and you always kept us in mind and we were happy to follow your life thorough the yearly Christmas photo albums.
As we pass through life, our immortality comes from those whose lives we have touched and how they have been influenced by us. The world will remain a better place because of Kos.
Sincerely,
Seppo Korpela

Dear Naomi,
ReplyDeleteI was a former student of Phil Barkan, and through him an associate of Kos. I had the privilege and opportunity of working with Kos on several occassions, and taught a few sessions at Stanford for Kos. I can say that I truly enjoyed working with Kos. He was cheerful, enthusiastic, kind, and encouraging. I know that he was a great mentor for the students, a recognized leader in his field, and truly concerned about others. He was someone that I was pleased to call an associate and friend.
Kos' death was a great shock, particularly because of his age and the sudden passing from such unusual circumstances. I wish you, and your family the very best and mourn with you in these difficult times.
The poet Wordsworth wrote:
Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting;
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting
And cometh from afar;
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:
From experiences that are too sacred to explain, I know that these simple words are true, and that in death Kos' soul has returned home that God who gave him life, that Kos does in reality live on, that he is immortal in a greater sense than simply through the lives he has touched. I hope that this may be of some comfort too you. Our thoughts and prayers are for you and with you.
Sincerely,
C. Martin Hinckley
Naomi,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Kos. I always enjoyed chatting with him at our happy hour get-togethers.
Thinking of you.
Love,
Sheila
Naomi,
ReplyDeleteI have some great memories of Kos' cheerful and welcoming personality at "tax" happy hours. Kos was able to join any conversation and use his lively personality to make any evening out a nice time. I remember a particular warm summer evening in Palo Alto where he asked thoughtful questions and really engaged in conversation with me. I believe there was a particular story about the hole in the ground at your home when you purchased it; Kos made me laugh so hard! I loved how the two of you enjoyed your annual travels to Switzerland and had such a happy time sharing your life together.
Naomi, you will definitely be in my thoughts because words cannot adequately express how sorry I am to hear about Kos.
Love,
Jenn Bowers
